a love story

So I {like any other female on this beautiful earth} love romantic comedies. My husband generously humors me and watches them  right along with me. This weekend we watched a really good one... and it got me thinking.

My love story is nothing like a movie.

I love my husband, he truly is my best friend, and I would not trade my time with him for anything in the world but as far a being movie worthy goes we are so lacking. When we were dating... it was not pretty. we got together, then broke up and then got back together and then broke back up. We were always friends though and I always loved him and he always loved me but the being in a relationship thing really didn't come easy to us. The only movie like moments I can think of are all quite tragic. Which is why we both don't really talk about our time spent dating.

Anyways as of this weekend we have been officially married for one year {I can't say it enough :) its so cool} and as I lay in bed enjoying our memorial day I just kept thinking about how perfect this last year of our life has been. We have had a perfect year! So I ask you, would you rather have a movie worthy dating life or a movie worthy marriage?

I think I lucked out. After all I get to enjoy my real-life-romantic-comedy for eternity.

just a side note

I know that most people would be mad and all kinds of plans would be ruined for most people if it was raining/snowing where they lived at the end of May. However, I feel a great sense of satisfaction.You see last year this was the day before my wedding, and just like today the skies opened up and it started snowing!!! IN MAY!!! I was in panic seeing as I was having an outdoor reception. We had a back up plan but who wants to use a back up plan when it comes to their wedding day? Anyways last year was just like this year.. start of the week has beautiful weather and the end of the week looks like this.

All I have to say is that I am happy knowing that Heavenly Father wasn't trying to send me some sign of marital doom, rather it was just one of the many wonders of Norther Nevada weather.

So for those of you who have sunshine today enjoy it, spring really is the best season ever. But for those of you who have had to dawn an extra layer, enjoy it for me... summer will be here soon enough anyways.

what have i been doing

Well I feel like I am officially the worst person ever when it come to consistency... but I also feel like it isn't completely my fault. You see when it comes to having a perfect life I have it, but when it comes to having surprises, responsibilities, family, and cool things to do I also have all that. Consequently my life can get a little crazy... good crazy, but none the less crazy.
Also I would like to publicly apologise to everyone I have been ignoring on facebook. I love you guys, and I really do love being your friend and keeping up in your life {even though for most of you I live rather far away} however I work on a computer all day... thus when I arrive at home all I want to do is hug (it more of a very tight restraining hold) my puppy, love my husband, cook something yummy, enjoy the outdoors, hit the gym, get clean and smell good, and lay in bed enjoying my scriptures and my family. The last thing that I would be interested in really is getting on the computer at all. It is odd how it has only taken me one year of marriage but in that little time I have actually developed a "life". And like I said before it is quite wonderful.
Anyways, that was my semi-apologetic way of saying I have a lot to fill you in on! So here are the tings that I have been doing instead of being on the Internet.

{Working}

Yeah I know we all hate that word but working hard pays for me to play even harder. I don't know if you know what I do but I do this medical billing/ collections/ keeping my boss sane kind of job. I'll be honest it isn't the absolute love of my life, but one day I really hope to be a mom and therefore my dear sweet wonderful husband will have to work the big job while I just want a job that will allow me to make some fun money and spend time with my kids. This dear friends is that kind of job. After I get the theoretical kiddos into school I want to become a psychiatrist. Yes I know that that is a big job and yes I know that this will require a lot of schooling but I feel like I can do it. Not to mention I want to have a back up plan. Life is {as we all know} never what we expect it to be. Recessions hit, accidents happen, and all I know is that I want to always be able to take care of my family. I think having an education would very much help me with this goal.

{Hiking}

Every spring and summer Kyle and I hit the trails. Literally. We love to explore the amazing places we have been blessed to live in and as such hiking has become one of our hobbies. We have been blessed to live in places where the visual beauty of nature abounds and so do the hiking trails. We have also been blessed with a very "active" dog and he can more then keep up with us. Buddy is also super smart which means he can walk off leash and not be a complete menace. It all adds up to wonderful time spent as a family.

{Redesigning our backyard}

Yes ladies and gentlemen we have a back yard. When we moved if it was a mess of dirt, rocks, and carpeting. Clearly Kyle would never let it stay this way, and I have always been a grass person, so Kyle, my parents and I went at it. Pulling up carpeting, rocks and all sorts of things that don't belong in a back yard and laying down a flat, lush, green layer of sod. Finnish off with the lights from our wedding, chairs, flowers and a bar-b-q and we have a lovely place to spend time with family. Not to mention our neighbors our mighty happy to no longer have to look at what used to be an eye-sore of a backyard.

{Partying with KD's}

For my birthday my husband took me/ let me attend my KD reunion. I LOVED it. Where have you girls been all my life! Well for the most part I know you stayed in Utah but growing up can kinda mean growing apart {at least in the sense that you don't all live in the same house} and it stinks. I love spending time with my sisters and remembering what it means to be sisters for life.

{Working out}

Yep that's right the gym is now an everyday thing for me. Last summer Kyle and I did a mud run with his family and it totally kicked my butt. This year I wasn't going to let that happen again so for Christmas I asked for new running shoes and a gym pass. Since my husband is wonderful he got me both and I have been working on my fitness ever since. I have to say I am learning to love it. We don't pay for TV in our house so its nice to pick up a few shows there. I enjoy having more energy and being able to push my limits a bit more. Most of all I enjoy the power I feel when it comes to accomplishing goals I have set forth. It makes me feel like I could do anything.

Anyways I hope you all can forgive me and continue to pay attention to my blog, seeing as I fully plan to make a come back.
Additionally I would like to thank the idiots at Blue Cross who have put me on hold for so long today that I was able to compose this blog post. (PS if you need a job I am sure they will be hiring people soon seeing as one woman corrected me when I said the date of service was January 19th 2011 to which she replied"Ummm no I have hear that it was 01.19.11" Genius!)
XOXO
Love and Luck in all you do

I have a problem

I was a 100% sure that one day I would grow out of this habit...
then I didn't
I was 200% sure that once I got a normal 9-5 job that I would grow out of this habit...
then I didn't
I thought that getting a dog would help me with the habit...
but he just seems to pander to it.

Can you guess what it is?

LOL it is my love of sleeping in!

Its awful, I know. Yet every morning I play a numbers game in my head, "Can I shower in under ten minutes? How long do you think it will take to blow out my hair? Do I really have to do my make-up?"
I think it is part of my problem with procrastination... like I just don't want to start to do what I have to.
But honestly who knows!

Any of you have a dirty little habit you wish you would grow out of?

Happy Valentines Day

Okay so little known secret...

I love Valentines Day!

Ever since I was old enough to understand what a Valentine actually was I was obsessed with having one.
Unfortunately my high school days were more then lacking in this area.
And to be honest college kinda was too...
then came Kyle.
I actually ditched my real Valentines date to hang out with him, that was kinda the first time I really remember him :) But every since then I have had the best Valentine ever and my love for a day that many call cheesy has grown.

So even though we have only been together for ... five Valentines now, we have some traditions.

1. We always skip the crowds! Meaning if V-day{ getting tired of spelling Valentines Day full out} is on the weekend we go for a lunch date and early movie and then enjoy a very quiet evening together.

2. We get cheesy! Seriously I know that people are always looking for ways to go against the grain but honestly there is something so romantic about flowers and chocolates and perfume and stuff.

3. We tell each other how much we love them.

This year, as you all know, V-day was on a Tuesday, so we went out to dinner on Monday. We went to our favorite place to spend V-day dates, Famous Dave's, and ate some amazing barbecue! Then we went window shopping at the mall. It was really fun to look at things and realize that there wasn't anything worth buying!
{LOL seriously NV get with it and realize that the fashions you are selling at full price are from last season.}
 Then we came home and snuggled with Buddy till everyone was very tired.
 Then for our actual V-date we had a meal at home followed by Starbucks and a red box movie.
Kyle had a black and white hot chocolate while I had a salted carmel hot chocolate! {Fantastic!!!}

How did you spend your Valentines day? Anything unbelievably romantic?

Meet Buddy

A week later and he has driven his way right into my heart.
I have never had a dog with this much personality but I guess he takes after his daddy.

His favorite food is pizza, he will go to any and all lengths to get even just a bite.Including but limited to waiting until you have thrown away your plate then pulling it out of the trash and licking every crumb off of it.
He loves cuddly blankets.
He always has to sleep in a place that he can see you.
When he wakes up in the morning he uses his front two feet to drag himself on his belly across the floor.
He only barks when he is playing{or in his pen}
He will chew on anything and everything he can get his hands on.
And his favorite place in the world is petsmart... not for the other pets but for the chance to meet all the people who love pets and kiss everyone of them!
And last but certainly not least he is happiest when he is with his Mom and Dad.
